Planning

Planning the next generation of high-speed ground transportation for Pennsylvania and the United States has been an ongoing activity for more than ten years. The information within this section provides a description of the Pennsylvania Project, the schedule, the project team and the history behind this exciting plan. We encourage you to review the details of the project and the applicability of maglev as an alternate source of transportation that offers competitive trip-time savings to auto and aviation modes in the 40- to 600-mile travel markets.

The goal of this program is to deploy high-speed maglev technology in commercial service with an initial project forty to fifty miles in length. This will demonstrate its viability for future implementation in longer distance intercity corridor applications.

The project is not only about the planning for the deployment of the system in the U.S. It is also about the development of the private-public operating structure and organizations, innovative financing, development of the long term precision fabrication techniques required to construct the maglev guideway, and the vision on how this system will not only serve Pennsylvania, but our nation as it is expanded beyond the initial installation. We believe you will find that high-speed maglev is truly an ideal travel option for the 21st century.
